An interesting perennial for a moist California garden. Needs wet feet to be happiest, or will go dormant due to lack of water. Tolerates sun or part shade, and is a great butterfly and bee attractor. Use it in an area of your garden that stays moist through the summer for best success. Despite the name, does not cause allergies. Some attribute the common name to the petals looking like they have been blown back from a sneeze, or that it was originally used for snuff.
