This subshrub is a member of salt marsh and alkali flat communities ranging from the Great Valley, to the Central and South Coasts , Channel Islands, to the Mojave Desert. It has a prostrate habit, the diameter usually less than 10'. Flowers range in color from white to pink to blue or purple. It is adapted to its environment by possessing salt-secreting glands. In your garden enjoy it as a groundcover in a sunny situation.
