Silene californica - Indian Pink

Description

Silenes are plants of rocky slopes which they colonize with their searching roots and rhizomes. In your garden they will want excellent drainage and filtered sun or light shade. This species is perhaps the showiest of all, with flowers up to an inch across of brillant scarlet-red, a hummingbird favorite.
