Description

A small to medium sized shrub, Salal makes a nice green backdrop with its large bright green leaves and rambling habit. Waxy, bell-shaped flowers in the late spring and early summer are white to pink. These are followed by edible purple berries in the late summer and fall. A native from Santa Barbara County to British Columbia, it grows well in shade or part sun, and prefers regular water. Takes full sun and drought on the immediate coast.
