Lotus formosissimus - Coast Trefoil

Description

This showy perennial is found in moist soils in meadows, along roadsides and coastal seeps. Locally it is known from Watsonville, San Bruno, Pescadero and Pigeon Point. It is winter dormant, leafing out in early spring and flowering by mid April here at Yerba Buena Nursery. The flowers are a bright yellow and pink, a happy contrast. This is a good choice for a sunny edge of a pond.
