Monardella villosa franciscana ssp. 'Russian River' - Coyote Mint

Description

This wonderful selection of coyote mint hails from the banks of the Russian River and was introduced by California Flora Nursery.  We love it in the landscape because it has nice broad leaves which are a really lush green, and big purple pom-pom flowers.  It has a bit more presence than the straight species and is a real magnet for pollinators.  It still goes semi-dormant with the summer heat, we suggest you cut it back a bit after the growing season.  You will love the fragrance of the leaves crushed between your fingers, and it makes an excellent tea.  Deer dislike it for this reason, so you can plant without fear.
